Ah, Kansas City.
I think we're off to a grumpy start. Humid move-in day. Non-working ice maker which leaks overnight when turned on. Somewhat bad smell when the dishwasher runs. Aside from that, the apartment is pretty great. Spacious. Two rooms, living area, dining, kitchen, two full baths. 3rd floor of a nice complex near Zona Rosa. I feel safe living there, so I suppose that's a positive as well. When I look back, maybe things aren't as grumpy as I thought. Tolerable to say the least I guess.
Internship with the advertising world starts tomorrow. SHS. Typically I would be nervous to start something like this. I feel quite the opposite actually. As I sit in my friend's kitchen in Johnson County, floor fan blowing at my knees, I can't help but to think about how excited I am to start. Schooling is done (in the typical sense). Now, the real-world experience, actual agency and mentorship. One reason I am particularly excited is because I'll be mentored by someone I've already met and trust his opinion over art direction.
Very cool. I took the liberty of driving around to get semi-accoustomed to the shopping areas around me. The 20-minute radius from my apartment is filled with all the needs I'll have for the summer (except for a wishing well).
Overall, it feels good to be here. Thanks for letting me begin my stay, Kansas City.
